Kristaps Porzingis And Rick Carlisle Already Had A One-On-One Film Session

Last week, the biggest trade of the year hit all of us out of the blue.

The New York Knicks traded Kristaps Porzingis, Tim Hardaway Jr., Courtney Lee and Trey Burke to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Dennis Smith Jr., DeAndre Jordan, Wesley Matthews and two first round draft picks.

While everybody was impatiently waiting on a possible trade of Anthony Davis, nobody had a Kristaps Porzingis trade in mind. But it did happen and the Mavericks were able to land another star with a similar skillset to prime Dirk.

While Porzingis is likely to sit out the remainder of the season, head coach Rick Carlisle does not want to wait until then to get to know his new star player and figuring out how he’s going to use him once he’ll play.

That’s why the two already had a one-on-one film session. Per Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News.

“It’s important to have a vision of the direction that you’re going to be going when you’re in a rehab situation like him, so you can get your mind focused on the kind of movements that are going to be required. It was a very good meeting. I asked him for some feedback and we had good discussions. So I think we have a good plan. It’s just going to be the rate at which he can increase his court activity. He’s doing great with the rehab, feels great, and so (there’s) a lot of positive signs.”
