Jaylen Brown On Trade Rumors Surrounding Him During The Season: “That Trade Talk Was Loud, And Most Of It Came From Boston Fans”

The Boston Celtics had such a sluggish start during the 2021-22 NBA regular season that it ultimately sparked speculations whether the team would have to part ways with either one of their core wing players in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

Many believed that Tatum and Brown couldn’t play together, drawing plenty of criticism for their lack of willingness to pass the ball. They even received the same criticism from one of their teammates Marcus Smart back in November.

But while there were intense trade rumors and speculations surrounding Tatum and Brown, the Celtics front office decided to stand pat come trade deadline and chose not to split the two players.

Luckily, it panned out as the team proceeded to turn their season around and are now headed to the NBA Finals after beating the Miami Heat in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Now talking to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Brown talked about dealing with trade talks during the regular season and recalled what really went down during their rough patch.

“That trade talk was loud, and most of it came from Boston fans,” Brown told Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports. “It’s a city that doesn’t tolerate excuses. But in reality, early in the season we had a new coach, we had a new front office, I missed about 15 games early in the season and that caused us to not be clicking on all cylinders like we wanted to be. People were impatient, so I understand. But fast forward, we got healthy, we got everybody back and now the sky’s the limit.”
