Is LeBron James’ Promised #23 To #6 Jersey Number Swap Going To Happen This Season?

Last year, when LeBron James finally got a superstar teammate in Los Angeles, as the Lakers traded for Anthony Davis, he wanted to present him with a special welcoming gift.

James gave up his #23 jersey he had been wearing for most of his career in order for Davis, who also had been wearing the #23 jersey ever since coming to the NBA.

The 4-time MVP planned to go back to the #6 jersey he wore during his time with the Miami Heat.

But eventually, it all came different. When the Lakers inquired with the league about the jersey change, they were informed that the deadline for such change had already passed. Back then, LeBron basically postponed his jersey number change to the upcoming 2020-21 season.

But rather than postponing, it looks like he has cancelled the number switch, because we have never heard anything about it for over a year. Additionally, Nike is already selling the new Lakers Statement jerseys, with the same numbers from last season.

It’s highly unlikely, but maybe we all are in for a huge surprise when the season starts.
