Goran Dragic Believes Luka Doncic Must Trust His Teammates More If He Wants To Win A Championship

Luka Doncic faces another playoff battle against the familiar Los Angeles Clippers. This time, though, he has Kyrie Irving alongside him. The series is currently tied 1-1, and everyone can tell this will be a challenging task for Doncic and the rest of the Mavericks.

Doncic is obviously on a mission to bring another championship home to Dallas. Though they aren’t considered favorites this season, Doncic’s status as a top playoff performer has many fans believing that he has a shot. But can he actually do it? This question has been hanging in the air for some time now.

There’s not much immediate pressure, of course. Doncic is only 25 years old, with plenty of time to prove himself. However, Goran Dragic believes there’s another gear for Doncic to unlock. He thinks the Mavericks superstar needs to trust his teammates more if he wants to win a championship.

As transcribed by Joey Mistretta of ClutchPoints:

“I think so, he can win, he just needs to change a little bit, maybe trust his teammates more,” Dragic said of Doncic, via The OGs podcast. “I’m not saying, because he does pass the ball, but just get off the ball a little bit more. And because of, you know, if you have the ball so much in your hand you get tired, and then it’s a long season and even in the playoffs you know I think that’s too much.”
