Frank Vogel Compares Paul George To Two Absolute Legends

During the past few years, Paul George has developped into one of the best defensive players the league has to offer. This season, George is leading the league in steals, which led to Frank Vogel, George’s former headcoach, praising him. Vogel compared George to two absolute legends and said:

“Allen Iverson’s instincts in Scottie Pippen’s body”

Former Philadelphia 76ers legend Allen Iverson is considered one of the most groundbreaking players in NBA history. His skills, unique style, and devastating crossover–to go with his 6’0” frame–put him in the same breath with some of the all-time greats. Iverson went toe-to-toe with many of them, and never backed down from a fight. Iverson won three consecutive steals titles (2000-03), tying Jordan in a very underrated achievement.

George definitley has great instincts on defense. He may not be as quick as Iverson, but adds length to his skills. The way George is moving on defense reminds me of Scottie Pippen.

Scottie Pippen is one of the most underrated players in league history; not for his skills and ability, but for the fact he was Batman’s (Michael Jordan) partner-in-crime, Robin (Scottie Pippen) for many years in Chicago. It was Pippen’s time to shine during the 1993-94 season—Michael Jordan’s first retirement from the game of basketball. And boy did he shine. Pippen ranked eighth in scoring (22.0), 23rd in rebounding (8.7), 19th in assists (5.6) second in steals (2.9), and averaged 0.8 blocks per game while shooting an impressive 49% from the field. Pippen carried the team on his back during Jordan’s absence and gained newfound respect in the NBA world that he could win and be a superstar on his own.

While the two Hall of Famers Vogel compared him to have already won (numerous) steals titles, Paul George is looking to add his first to his resumee this season.
