Former UFC Champion Believes LeBron James Could Compete In UFC And Beat Demetrious Johnson

Given that LeBron James possesses a rare combination of size, strength and speed, many fans have wondered how James could fare in a different sport that highlights more of his unique physique.

One sport that comes to mind is MMA. While that seems like a reach, one fan even took the hypothetical scenario to Twitter and even asked former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping about his thoughts regarding James hypothetically competing in the octagon.

When Bisping was asked if James could compete in UFC and beat Demetrious Johnson, who was a former UFC flyweight champion, Bisping had no other explanation and concluded that James could.

Demetrious Johnson also known as the ‘Mighty Mouse’ checks in at 135 pounds and 5-foot-3 in height. Meanwhile, James is measured at 249 pounds and 6-foot-8. James has the clear cut advantage physique wise, but skills and everything else definitely go to Johnson.

If James had learned MMA at a young age and polished his skills going forward it would be a different discussion. But if we’re speaking at this present time, beating one of the greatest pound-for-pound mixed martial artists of all-time, seems highly unlikely for the Los Angeles Lakers superstar.

It’s surprising that Michael Bisping picked James winning the hypothetical matchup despite James’ lack of training and experience in MMA. Perhaps, Bisping saw the size difference as a huge advantage, but would that be enough to make up for what James is lacking?
