Dominique Wilkins Was Turned Away From Atlanta Restaurant Because Of “The Color Of My Skin”

Dominique Wilkins is arguably the greatest Hawks player in franchise history – his statue sitting in front of the arenas speaks volume.

Additionally, Wilkins has served as the Hawks’ Vice President of Basketball since 2004 and is the color analyst for Hawks games.

So you can say he’s one of the biggest living legends in town. Nonetheless, Wilkins was the victim of racism in the very town he’s has legendary status in. Le Bilboquet Atlanta, part of a chain of swank French bistros, had turned him away. According to Wilkins himself, they did so because of his race.

While the restaurant responded by saying Wilkins wasn’t wearing formal enough clothing, systematic racism against black people seems to be common in the establishment, according to many different voices on Twitter.
