Charles Barkley On LeBron James: “Only Player In My 40 Years In The NBA Who Played Great From Day One”

LeBron James’ longevity is just something else. He was just 18 years old when he debuted in his first NBA game back in the 2003-04 NBA season. He dominated right away and ended up being crowned as the Rookie of the Year.

Fast forward to today, LeBron is about to enter his 20th season of his career and he’s still unquestionably as good as ever. He still has a ton of gas left in the tank as he’s coming off a season where he averaged 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game on 52.4% shooting.

Now, NBA Hall of Famer and TNT analyst Charles Barkley had something to say about the four-time champion. Often a critic of the LeBron, Barkley took on a different tune this time and uttered nothing but praise for the 37-year old superstar when talking about his consistency and longevity.

“I think what LeBron has accomplished is arguably the greatest story in sports history. For No. 1, you look at Kobe, Kevin Garnett, guys like that, they were not good players when they first got into the NBA. LeBron is the only player in my forty years in the NBA who played great from Day 1.”

“And for him to turn into one of the best players ever, he’s never gotten in trouble, especially in this 24-hour news cycle with social media. For him to be as great as he’s been from the year 18 to where he’s at now, I think it’s one of the greatest stories in sports history. He was that good from day 1.”
