Celtics’ Matt Ryan Emotional Following Game-Winner, Reflects On His Journey From Door Dash Driver To NBA Player

The NBA Summer League often produces the best stories, just like the one from Matt Ryan.

Last night’s game between the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks was a lot of fun, with multiple poster dunks and a wild finish.

Boston was trailing by one point with just 6.3 seconds remaining on the game clock, when Ryan paced down the court and shot a deep 3-pointer that he banked in to lead the Celtics an 111-109 win.

During his shot, Ryan appeared to sprain his ankle, so that he was writhing on the court in pain instead of celebrating.

Ryan however was able to leave the court under his own power. After his 23 points and the game-winner, he definitely was the man of the hour and had to talk to a lot of reporters.

In one interview, Ryan was moved to tears, when he reflected on his personal journey after going undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft, and the fact that a year ago he was driving for Door Dash.

“It’s pretty emotional, it’s been a crazy 11 months. I was home for a year and a half,” Ryan told reporters after the game, via NBC10’s Kwani Lunis.

“I don’t know if you guys heard my story, but I was driving Door Dash a year ago. To be here, to be a part of the Boston Celtics is special. It’s special.”
