Byron Scott’s Home Was Robbed

Former Los Angeles Lakers player and head coach Byron Scott was the victim of a home robbery this past weekend. According to reports from the Los Angeles Times, the burglars stole cash, watches, purses and jewelry, worth over $200,000.

Scott was set to enjoy his retirement, after he retired from coaching earlier this summer.

He coached the New Jersey Nets, New Orleans Hornets, Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers. In the beginning of his coaching career, he was fairly succesful. The 3-time NBA champion coached the New Jersey Nets to two consecutive NBA Finals. In the 2001/02 season, the Nets had a franchise record 52 wins, and won the Eastern Conference Championship. They went on to lose against the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals. Scott and his Nets also had a very succesful 2002/03 season, reaching the NBA Finals again, but lost for a seond year in a row, this time to the San Antonio Spurs.

Scott will end his coaching career with a 454-647 record, New Jersey being his most succesful time as a coach. After being fired, Scott only had mediocre success with the New Orleans Hornets. He then failed to reach the playoffs during 5 consecutive years, while coaching the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers, where he only had a combined record of 102-292.

If you look back at his teams, you recognize that Scott had the opportunity to coach plenty of NBA All Stars such as Kenyon Martin, Jason Kidd, Chris Paul, David West, Kyrie Irving and Kobe Bryant.
