Anthony Davis Says The Phoenix Suns Beat Them Last Year Because Of His Groin Injury

The Los Angeles Lakers were climbing up ahead of the Phoenix Suns during their first-round series in last year’s playoffs, but an injury to superstar big man Anthony Davis eventually ruined their momentum, consequently restricting them from securing a series win.

Davis was no doubt an instrumental piece to the Lakers whether it’s putting up buckets or just crashing the boards and playing defense. Davis only played three full games versus Phoenix, and averaged 27.0 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game on 43.4% shooting from the field.

The Lakers, who were missing Davis’ production, went on to be demolished by Chris Paul and Devin Booker in Game 6 of their playoff series. Putting some insight into the matter, Davis now stressed that his injury was the reason the Suns were able to beat them last year.

Anthony Davis, asked if his groin injury is the main reason the Lakers didn’t beat the Suns in the playoffs last year, says: “It was  … We know that. They know that … They got away with one.”
