LeBron James has become accustomed to attracting extraordinary attention throughout his legendary NBA career. But an alarming incident at his Los Angeles residence on Friday night has raised serious questions about the safety and privacy of one of basketball’s most recognizable figures.
According to TMZ Sports, a man was arrested on suspicion of stalking after allegedly entering the grounds of James’ property and telling police officers that he believed he was the NBA superstar’s son.
The incident occurred on November 6, while James was more than 2,000 miles away in Cleveland, preparing to face his former team as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers.
Security personnel reportedly spotted an unidentified man on surveillance cameras at James’ Brentwood residence at approximately 9 p.m. and immediately contacted authorities.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that officers responded to a possible burglary call at 9:39 p.m. and apprehended a suspect at the property.
The man was subsequently booked on suspicion of felony stalking. However, the most unusual detail emerged during his interaction with police.
According to law enforcement sources cited by TMZ, the suspect claimed that he believed he was LeBron James’ son.
On the night of the incident, James was playing against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Rocket Arena, where Philadelphia suffered a 119-95 defeat. Far away from his Southern California home.
The four-time NBA champion finished with just eight points, one of the least productive scoring performances of his extraordinary career.
