The NBA and Nike are giving the league’s off-court and pregame look a major refresh for the 2026-27 season.
The two partners officially unveiled the new NBA Standard Issue Collection, a league-wide apparel program that will be worn by players from all 30 teams during warmups, practices and team travel. The collection is built around a more fashion-driven presentation, with oversized silhouettes, enlarged team graphics and bolder treatments of familiar franchise identities.
Nike says the concept was developed with input from more than 400 elite high school players, 100 NBA players, every NBA franchise and basketball fans around the world. The goal was to create a unified league look without making every team feel identical, allowing each franchise to retain its own visual character through different graphics and design details.
The collection includes hoodies, pants, T-shirts and shorts, with some pieces emphasizing large, highly visible logos while others offer a more understated approach. The clothing also incorporates performance-focused elements including Nike Aero-Fit, Dri-FIT materials and stretch fabrics designed to work both around basketball activities and in everyday settings.

One significant change is that fans will be able to purchase the same products worn by NBA players. Nike and the league are presenting that as a more direct connection between NBA team apparel and modern basketball fashion rather than keeping official player gear separate from typical fan merchandise.
The Standard Issue Collection will be released in two waves, beginning September 15 and continuing with a second drop on October 12.
The broader redesign will also extend to the court.
Nike confirmed that its new Specter Edition uniforms are connected stylistically to the Standard Issue project and will debut later this fall. Unlike the league-wide warmup and travel collection, the Specter Edition will initially be reserved for eight franchises whose histories stretch back to the NBA’s earliest era: the Sacramento Kings, Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks, Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics.
According to the NBA, those uniforms will incorporate elements inspired by each franchise’s history, city and fan culture. The full designs have not yet been formally revealed, meaning the Standard Issue launch effectively serves as an early glimpse at the visual direction Nike is taking with the upcoming alternates.
The project represents more than another seasonal merchandise release. Nike is attempting to create a consistent visual identity that follows NBA players from practice facilities to arenas and team travel, while simultaneously making that same look available to supporters.
