Delonte West may have been out of the NBA for more than a decade, and has faced multiple struggles, but apparently he still does not need much to remind people just how enormous the gap can be between a former NBA player and an ordinary basketball enthusiast.
West recently went one-on-one against popular streamer N3on, and the former NBA guard made the matchup particularly brutal by essentially removing one of basketball’s most basic tools from his arsenal: dribbling.
In a clip that quickly circulated across social media, West repeatedly created and converted opportunities without putting the ball on the floor, using footwork, positioning, timing and his shooting touch to overwhelm N3on.

West, now 43, played eight NBA seasons after being selected with the 24th overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft. He spent time with the Boston Celtics, Seattle SuperSonics, Cleveland Cavaliers and Dallas Mavericks, developing a reputation as a tough combo guard who could defend, shoot and operate either on or off the ball.
The matchup came amid West spending time with N3on as the streamer has attempted to help him establish a presence in livestreaming. N3on recently gave West a new phone and streaming equipment and helped him become verified on Kick as West explored the possibility of creating his own content.
For longtime NBA fans, however, the basketball footage provided a different kind of reminder.
West’s life after professional basketball has received considerable public attention, often for reasons unrelated to what originally made him famous. Seeing him back on a court – even in an informal setting against a streamer – put the focus momentarily back on the skill that once allowed him to spend years competing against the best basketball players in the world.
