The Los Angeles Lakers sit third in the Western Conference and have gone 9-1 over their last 10 games. That surge traces back, more than anything, to Luka Doncic playing at an MVP level.
Doncic is putting up 33.4 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game on 47.6% shooting this season. Lately, he’s taken it even further, bumping that scoring to 39.2 points per game over the last 10. He leads the league in scoring while carrying a team that’s climbed into the top three in the conference. That combination usually puts a player right in the MVP conversation.
The race is crowded with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Victor Wembanyama in it, but Doncic has his supporters. Former NBA player Evan Turner is one of them and believes Luka should take home the award this year.
“I believe what he has been doing this year, and over the past few years, has been unbelievable. He has them in the top three right now, and Luka leads the league in points per game.”
