Bucks Trying To Convince Giannis To Stay by Targeting D’Angelo Russell, Cam Thomas?

At 18-28, the Milwaukee Bucks still have plenty of ground to cover, both in the standings and in reassuring Giannis Antetokounmpo that the franchise is moving in the right direction. That won’t happen without Milwaukee proving it knows how to properly build around its superstar.

With other situations around the league remaining appealing for Giannis, from the Golden State Warriors with Stephen Curry to the New York Knicks with Jalen Brunson, the Bucks are now under pressure to keep up.

Sources indicate the Bucks are looking at D’Angelo Russell and Cam Thomas as possible additions. The two scoring guards are not expected to be the only targets, but they reflect the kind of help Milwaukee is considering. Ultimately, the question is whether that would be enough to satisfy Giannis.

“With that in mind, Cam Thomas and D’Angelo Russell are both on Milwaukee’s radar contingent on other deals the Bucks are working on, league sources told HoopsHype. Thomas, a proven bucket getter that averaged 22.9 points in 91 combined games in his prior two seasons, would potentially be useful for the Bucks, who rank fourth-worst in points per game (111.8). It’s worth noting that Thomas has a no-trade clause and would need to approve of any trade.”
