Mikal Bridges Goes Full Championship Mode On Instagram Live

Mikal Bridges is usually one of the calmer personalities in the NBA. Reliable, smiling, low-maintenance, a guy who can play 40 minutes, defend three positions, hit a corner three, never miss a game (literally) and still look like he just walked out of his house in the morning.

Then the Knicks won the championship, and Bridges apparently decided calm was officially canceled.

Two days after New York finished off the San Antonio Spurs to win its first NBA title since 1973, Bridges went live on Instagram and gave Knicks fans a celebration stream that immediately became part of championship folklore.

Bridges appeared to be enjoying more than a few adult beverages, sang along to Coldplay, joked with fans, praised teammates and generally turned his phone into a moving parade float. At one point, Jalen Brunson saw enough and posted the perfect response:

“Somebody take Mikal’s phone.”

The best part was that Bridges did not even try to act polished. He was loose, happy, unfiltered and very much still living inside the championship haze. He called Brunson the GOAT, demanded a statue for the Finals MVP outside Madison Square Garden, defended Coldplay like it was a playoff assignment, shouted out teammates and even joked about the Knicks’ title-run discipline. It was messy in the way only a championship celebration can be messy: hilarious and completely impossible to PR-train in real time.

And honestly, Bridges earned the right to have his goofy victory lap. The Knicks gave up a massive package to get him, the expectations were loud, and the fit was debated all season. But by the end, none of that mattered. New York won the title, Brunson became a legend, and Bridges became exactly what championship teams need: a two-way wing who could defend and make shots.
