Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has spoken publicly for the first time following a frightening break-in at his Nichols Hills home last week.
The break-in occurred on the night of October 30, while Gilgeous-Alexander was playing in a home game against the Washington Wizards. The Thunder secured a 127–108 victory, but while the MVP candidate was dazzling on the court, his residence was reportedly targeted by intruders. Police responded to the scene with a heavy presence, including K-9 units and aerial support. No injuries were reported, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
In a postgame interview days later, Gilgeous-Alexander addressed the incident with calm and clarity:
“Long story short, everybody’s safe. That’s all that really matters. Everything else will come and go.”

The break-in adds to a troubling pattern of professional athletes being targeted while away for games. Earlier this year, multiple NFL and NBA players reported similar incidents, prompting leagues to issue warnings and encourage enhanced home security measures.
Gilgeous-Alexander, who is averaging over 30 points per game this season and leading the Thunder to a league-best 7-0 start, has become one of the NBA’s brightest stars, and is an early favorite to repeat as the league’s MVP.
