Minnesota Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo shocked fans and teammates alike by returning to play after suffering a brutal nose injury during Saturday night’s 122–105 win over the Charlotte Hornets.
The injury occurred with 10:54 remaining in the second quarter at Spectrum Center, when DiVincenzo took an accidental elbow to the face while contesting a rebound. He immediately exited the game and headed to the locker room, sparking concern among Timberwolves fans and commentators. The impact was severe enough to cause visible bleeding and swelling around his nose.
Shortly after the game, graphic images of DiVincenzo’s face began circulating on social media. One photo showed him with a dressing stuffed into his left nostril to stop the bleeding, while another captured his swollen and distorted facial expression, his nose clearly misshapen from the blow.

Despite the injury, DiVincenzo returned to the court later. His nose still appeared visibly damaged, but he played through the discomfort, logging key minutes and helping the Timberwolves maintain their lead.
Social media lit up with reactions to DiVincenzo’s facial expression and determination. One fan tweeted, “That man’s nose is hanging on by a thread and he’s still hooping. Respect.” Another wrote, “DiVincenzo just became a Timberwolves legend tonight.” The moment quickly became one of the most talked-about highlights of the game.
DiVincenzo ended up playing 31 minutes and scored 18 points, while adding four assists, and three rebounds. His presence and defensive intensity were felt throughout the second half. His return helped stabilize the Timberwolves’ backcourt rotation and contributed to their dominant fourth quarter run.
