Former NBA All-Star Jeff Teague has never been shy about sharing behind-the-scenes stories from his career. On his Club 520 Podcast, he recently revealed the teammate who annoyed him the most: Dennis Schröder.

Teague and Schröder shared the Atlanta Hawks’ backcourt from 2013 to 2016. Teague as the established starter, Schröder as the ambitious young guard from Germany. According to Teague, the friction came from cultural differences and Schröder’s approach to competition.

“The only reason me and Dennis didn’t see eye-to-eye is because he was from a different country… He ain’t understand how sh*t went,” Teague said. “He was showing me stuff from the GM and assistant GM, comparing our stats, telling me I’d be replaced. And he was showing me.”

For Teague, those moments broke the unwritten rules of locker room respect. Schröder’s confidence and willingness to share management chatter directly with him created tension that never fully eased.

In 2016, Teague was traded to the Indiana Pacers, and Schröder stepped into the starting role in Atlanta. Both went on to have successful careers, Schröder later winning international gold with Germany, Teague transitioning into media.
