Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns haven’t been aligned for months, especially after the organization floated his name around the league during the last trade deadline. At this point, both sides seem to be bracing for a possible split.
As failed experiments go, this one will definitely be revisited. Still, parting ways might benefit both sides. For the Suns, trading Durant could bring the chance to reset, rethink their three-star formula, and build around Devin Booker and Bradley Beal with the right role players. For Durant, a new team might bring a better fit and a clearer path to ring No. 3.
Right now, teams have their radars up, but some may already be ahead of the pack. According to NBA analyst Zach Lowe, the Minnesota Timberwolves, led by Durant enthusiast Anthony Edwards, are out in front in the early sweepstakes.
“Lowe said he would put the Timberwolves at No. 1 in the ‘buzz’ rankings in the Durant sweepstakes, with the Houston Rockets at No. 2.”
The Minnesota Timberwolves are reportedly “gaining steam” as a potential landing spot for Kevin Durant, per @ZachLowe_NBA
