The Indiana Pacers delivered a statement win in Game 3 of the NBA Finals, defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder 116-107 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse to take a 2-1 series lead. Fueled by a dominant second quarter and a relentless fourth-quarter surge, Indiana proved that they are more than capable of standing toe-to-toe with the heavily favored Thunder.

After a competitive first quarter, the Pacers erupted for 40 points in the second, overwhelming OKC with their fast-paced offense and defensive pressure. Bennedict Mathurin was the catalyst, scoring 14 points in the period while shooting 5-of-6 from the field. His energy off the bench helped Indiana build a 64-60 halftime lead, setting the tone for the rest of the game.

After struggling in the first two games of the series, Tyrese Haliburton finally found his groove, finishing with 22 points and 11 assists. He shot 9-of-17 from the field and 4-of-8 from beyond the arc, orchestrating Indiana’s offense with precision. His ability to control the tempo and create opportunities for teammates was a key factor in the Pacers’ victory.

Despite entering the final quarter with a five-point lead, OKC fell apart down the stretch, getting outscored 32-18. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who had been dominant throughout the playoffs, managed just three points in the fourth, struggling against Indiana’s defensive adjustments. The Thunder also missed seven free throws, further compounding their late-game woes.

Indiana’s bench outperformed OKC’s reserves, scoring 49 points compared to the Thunder’s 18. Mathurin led the charge with 27 points, while T.J. McConnell added 10. Their contributions ensured that Indiana maintained control even when their starters rested.

With the series shifting to Game 4, the Thunder must regroup and find a way to counter Indiana’s fast-paced attack. OKC’s turnovers (19 in Game 3) and fourth-quarter struggles have become glaring issues, and adjustments will be necessary if they hope to even the series.

Game 4 is set for Friday, June 13, and the Pacers will look to extend their lead in front of their home crowd.
