The Oklahoma City Thunder continued their dominant playoff run, securing a 118-103 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. With the win, OKC now holds a 2-0 series lead, putting Minnesota in a difficult position as the series shifts to Minneapolis.

Fresh off receiving the NBA MVP award, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander put on a show for the home crowd. The Thunder star dropped 38 points, 8 assists, and 3 steals, proving why he was the league’s best player this season. His ability to control the pace of the game and attack the Timberwolves’ defense was on full display, as he repeatedly found ways to score despite Minnesota’s adjustments.

The Thunder’s defense was once again a major factor in their victory. OKC forced 17 turnovers and recorded 13 steals, disrupting Minnesota’s offensive flow throughout the night. The Timberwolves struggled to find consistent scoring outside of Anthony Edwards, who finished with 32 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists but lacked support from his teammates.

The Timberwolves’ inability to generate offense beyond Edwards proved costly, as OKC pulled away in the second half.

Much like Game 1, the Thunder dominated the third quarter, outscoring Minnesota 35-21 to break the game open. Jalen Williams played a crucial role, contributing 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Chet Holmgren added 22 points and 4 rebounds, providing a strong interior presence.

Minnesota attempted a late push in the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to 10 points, but OKC’s composure and defensive execution ensured there would be no comeback.

With the series shifting to Target Center in Minneapolis, the Timberwolves face a must-win situation in Game 3. If they fail to adjust, the Thunder could be on the verge of their first NBA Finals appearance since 2012.

For now, OKC looks unstoppable, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s MVP-level play continues to be the driving force behind their success.
