The Golden State Warriors are moving on to the Western Conference Semifinals, and much of their success in Game 7 against the Houston Rockets can be attributed to Draymond Green’s leadership and emotional reset. After a frustrating Game 6 loss, Green took accountability in a team meeting, setting the tone for the Warriors’ 103-89 victory.

Following Game 6, Green admitted he had lost his composure, picking up a flagrant foul early in the game that contributed to the Warriors’ struggles. Recognizing his mistake, he addressed the team the night before Game 7, delivering a message that resonated with his teammates.

“Draymond set the tone last night at the team meeting. He owned up to losing his poise in Game 6… he talked to the group last night and said, ‘I gotta be poised and I have to be better, and we’re going to come in [to Houston] tomorrow and get it done,’” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said after the win.

Green followed through on his promise, playing with controlled intensity and leading the Warriors with 16 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two blocks. His defensive presence was crucial in limiting Houston’s offensive rhythm, and his ability to stay composed helped Golden State maintain control throughout the game.

While Green’s leadership was pivotal, the Warriors’ experienced core stepped up when it mattered most. Buddy Hield delivered a historic 33-point performance, hitting nine three-pointers, while Stephen Curry added 22 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists despite battling a thumb injury. Jimmy Butler contributed 20 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, ensuring the Warriors had enough firepower to close out the series.

With the win, the Warriors advance to face the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Semifinals, setting up a highly anticipated matchup between Anthony Edwards and Stephen Curry. Meanwhile, Green’s ability to balance intensity with composure will be crucial as Golden State continues its playoff run.
