Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has turned to NBA legend Michael Jordan for advice on how to handle double teams, according to ESPN’s Mark Jones.

“I was told by someone in his circle that three weeks ago [Anthony Edwards] reached out to Michael Jordan on advice on how to handle some of the double teams and traps that he’s seeing. He’s been extremely frustrated up until late.”

Edwards, who has been facing increased defensive pressure this season, has been struggling with his shot, posting a shooting percentage of just 44.0% this season despite averaging 26.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. The constant double teams have disrupted his confidence and affected his performance on the court.

Jordan, who famously faced relentless double teams throughout his career, especially from the “Bad Boy” Pistons, is seen as the perfect mentor for Edwards. Jordan’s own experiences with overcoming defensive tactics offer invaluable lessons on how to handle adversity on the court.

While the specifics of their conversation remain private, it’s evident that Jordan’s advice has had a positive impact on Edwards Over the last 10 games, Edwards has elevated his performance, averaging 28.8 points per game. His improved play has been a key factor in the Timberwolves’ recent success, as they’re currently climbing up the rankings in the Western Conference.
