Karl-Anthony Towns is undeniably a gifted offensive player. Not only does he average 23.0 points per game for his career, but he does it while shooting 39.5% from the three-point range. He also has a great combination of size and speed that makes him difficult to defend when he gets it going.

Towns has a good reason to believe in himself as an offensive player. But appearing on “The Pat Bev Podcast”, the Minnesota Timberwolves big man made a wild statement when he said that some people will remember him for changing the game when it’s all said and done.

Per Bleacher Report:

“I feel like when my time’s up, and I retire and I put the shoes up… I feel like there’s people that’s gonna say that I changed the game,” Towns said. “And I’m gonna be very appreciative of that. When this is all over, there’s gonna be kids coming up saying that they’re gonna be able to play a different way because I played in the NBA and did it a different way.”

Many fans and pundits were set ablaze by Towns’ statement, including former NBA star Tim Hardaway Sr. Making his appearance on “The Cartoon Show”, Hardaway now slapped Towns with reality check while naming five centers that are better than the 27-year old Wolves big man.

“You don’t make your team better,” Hardaway said. “You don’t get to the postseason and win, you don’t make timely shots, you don’t make defensive plays.”

“You need to win playoff games,” Hardaway added. “You have four wins in 12 games and zero series wins. He’s a really good NBA player but he doesn’t make anybody better. It’s all about him at times. He tries to go to the referee instead of playing team basketball. Sometimes, he’s out there and you don’t even see him. He needs to have a reality check and work on his game. In Minnesota, they talk too much. They need to shut up, go out there and play basketball.”
