Wizards Fine John Wall For Insulting Head Coach Scott Brooks During Practice
This past NBA summer, when Dwight Howard and the Washington Wizards agreed on a two-year, $11 million deal, ESPN’s Ryen Russillo said following words:
“Actually, it’s a perfect fit. You wanna know why? Because Dwight is probably the most delusional player of his generation, going to one of the most delusional teams in the league. The Wizards think they are the toughest guys in the court, they talk all the talk, and they almost never back it up. This is the most mentally fragile team in the league, and you’re adding this guy that’s constantly been a problem on all these other teams… But in a way, it’s the perfect fit!”
Well, a good month into the season, we can all agree that he was right in the first place. After a disappointing 5-11 start, the team has basically made every player available for a potential trade. But that’s not even where all the drama starts and ends. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that the Wizards have fined John Wall for saying “f**k you” to head coach Scott Brooks during a recent practice.
After teammate Jeff Green and Brooks pushed Wall and Wizards teammates to raise the level of intensity in a practice last week, Wall fired back with “f— you,” toward Brooks, league sources said.
Wall did apologize to Brooks shortly afterward, and to his teammates the following day, league sources said.
But I guess this should be business as usual for Washington by now.
