Anthony Davis Doesn’t Plan On Leaving New Orleans
Anthony Davis is having a career year so far. He is averaging 27.7 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.5 blocks per game, while shooting over 50% from the field and over 80% from the line. More importantly, so far he has been able to (mostly) stay healthy. His team, the New Orleans Pelicans are starting to turn their season around after a bad start. They’re only trailing the 8th spot in the Western Conference by 2.5 games and have a legit shot to make the playoffs.
Anthony Davis signed a massive deal a little over a year ago, and unlike other players who sign the extension off their rookie deals, Davis intents on staying in New Orleans in the future.
He specifically told reporters this week at a pre-All-Star event that he has no intentions of leaving the ‘Big Easy’.
“I don’t plan on leaving, so make sure you write that down.”
Davis also was asked about the rumor that he and Russell Westbrook could eventually join forces with the Lakers in Los Angeles, and responded:
“I don’t pay attention to rumors, I don’t know who said it or how it came about. I’m with the Pelicans right now.”
With DeMarcus Cousins planning on staying in Sacramento for a couple of more years, and Anthony Davis not having any plans of leaving New Orleans, many teams may need to rethink strategies on their quest for an All-Star big man on their team.
