Former NBA Star Steve Francis Turns Himself In For A Burglary Warrant
Former three-time NBA All-Star guard Steve Francis turned himself in to police early Monday morning for a burglary warrant from an incident back in June, according to TMZ.com.
The 39-year-old supposedly raided a stranger’s car in Manatee, Florida, stealing over $7,000 of items such as wedding ring, wallet, and cash. Francis went to a police precinct days later to return what he had taken and wasn’t charged with a crime. The department later looked into the case and changed their mind, issuing a warrant for Francis’ arrest. Once the news got to the veteran point guard, he turned himself in.
This wasn’t Francis’ first run in with police as of late, though. He was arrested for DWI in the Houston, Texas area a few weeks ago. Francis is facing a burglary of an unoccupied conveyance charge — a 3rd degree felony that carries up to five years in prison. His bond is set at $1,500.
Steve Francis—taken with the second overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft by the Vancouver Grizzlies —was one of the best point guards in the league during his prime. Francis was the NBA’s Rookie of the Year in 2000 and a three-time All-Star from 2002-2004.
