Ben Simmons wouldn’t have a Problem playing for the Sixers

We all know the Philadelphia 76ers won the Draft Lottery, and therefore have the first pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. We also know the top two prospects in this years draft are Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram, who are expected to be selected at positions one and two. It was reported that the Sixers are leaning toward Simmons as their pick, even though they really need a backcourt player.

Simmons averaged 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game with LSU. Ingram averaged 17.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists playing for Duke, the superior team.

If the Sixers pick Simmons, their frontcourt will be packed, as he would join Nerlens Noel, Jahlil Okafor, Nerlens Noel, Joel Embiid and probably Dario Saric. It was reported, that the Philadelphia 76ers could look to trade away Nerlens Noel for Atlanta Hawks’ Jeff Teague. This actually would be a great trade for both teams. Philly needs a point-guard, even more if they add Simmons to their already stacked front-court. Atlanta could use Noel as Center and wouldn’t have to offer a max-contract to Al Horford, who is better as a power forward anyways. Millsap and Noel would be a great frontcourt duo with Schröder being more than able to run the point.

A source “close to Ben Simmons,” reported that Simmons “has no issue with playing for the 76ers”.

Philly’s General Manager Bryan Colangelo said he knows what he would do with the pick if the draft occurred “today,” although he is not ready to reveal his pick.

You want to leave your options open right down to the bitter end. Any number of things can happen in this process. Players reveal certain things over time. Some of it is based on scouting and watching games, and some of it is based on the interview and meeting process, some of it is based on individual workouts and physical information. You look at everything, you want to comb through all of the data to make sure there is nothing you have not uncovered. In the event of a draft pick you cannot publicly state who you are going to select prior to the commissioner walking up on stage and making that announcement. Even if we were set in stone on our decision, we’d be prohibited by league rules to do so in terms of telling people.”

It would be a shocker if Ben Simmons wasn’t playing for Philadelphia next season.
