Wolves Coach Tom Thibodeau Praises Kawhi Leonard

The Minnesota Timberwolves played against the San Antonio Spurs last night. The Spurs won 122-114 in a game that was more even than expected. One man though, was the difference maker for the Spurs once again. His name is Kawhi Leonard, and he is having an MVP caliber season.

Kawhi finished last night’s game with 34 points, making 12 of 17 shots from the field, 8 of 9 from the line, and 2 of 3 from beyond the three point line, while adding 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

After the game, Minnesota Timberwolves coach Tom Thibodeau paised the San Antonio star. He said:

“He is terrific. He is an MVP candidate. To me, All-Stars and MVPs, you look at what they do for their team and winning. There are people that they can get stats on. But they don’t contribute to winning. He does everything to help his team win. I think he had 17 shots, great defense, unselfishness, great plays, plays with a lot of toughness and that’s how you win. When you are as dominant as he is defensively, to me he is the defensive player of the year candidate. He is always on top every year. He is disruptive, and the demeanor that he plays with gives their team a lot of poise.”

He’s a walking cheatcode, it’s unfair. It was Leonard’s 12th 30-point game of the season and his fourth in a row, becoming the first Spur to score 30+ points in four straight since Tim Duncan in Jan. 2004. On top of all that, he is really, really good on defense as well.
