What Kawhi Leonard Needs To Do To Lead The Clippers To A Championship, Per Antoine Walker

The Los Angeles Clippers are a team determined to make some changes after a disappointing second-round defeat against the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs, and they started off with letting go of coach Doc Rivers who had been coaching the Clippers for seven seasons.

While there were a lot of issues that influenced their series collapse, retired Celtics player and former three-time All-Star Antoine Walker isn’t putting anyone accountable but Kawhi Leonard who only tallied 14 points on 6/22 shooting from the field in Game 7 of the Clippers-Nuggets series.

Walker, during an episode of ‘First Things First’, also questioned Leonard’s leadership, compared him to LeBron James and exclaimed what Leonard has to do in order to bring a championship to Clipper Nation.

“His leadership skills do have to get better off the court. I have said it numerous times before, LeBron James, that is how he separates himself. He gets guys to buy in… Kawhi Leonard has to step outside his shell if he wants to be a champion for the Clippers.”

“Everybody is built differently. Kawhi may not have 3-4 championships in him. We may believe that as a skillset he can win 3 or 4 championships… He’s very quiet, he’s very sheltered, and he doesn’t talk a lot. We don’t know where he wants to be at as a pro and the way he wants to finish his career. He may be content where he is right now.”
