Utah Jazz Officials Reportedly Viewed Trading Donovan Mitchell To Cavs Instead Of Knicks As Payback

There’s just a lot to be excited about the Cleveland Cavaliers next season. Boasting a solid core of Darius Garland, Caris LeVert, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen, the Cavs have now added former Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell to supplement that collection of talent.

Mitchell impresses as one of the top shooting guards in the NBA. Last season, the 25-year old put up 25.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game on 44.8% shooting from the field and helped the Jazz make another playoff appearance.

But while Cleveland is a great fit for Mitchell, his initial goal was to be traded to the New York Knicks.

NBA analyst Ric Bucher now revealed that part of the reason why the Utah Jazz eventually ended up trading Mitchell to the Cleveland Cavaliers was because some Utah Jazz officials were unhappy with Mitchell’s trade request. Sending him to Cleveland instead of his was “payback”, according to Bucher.
