Up To 7 Years In Prison For Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis?

Too many NBA players will be broke or have other problems once they’ve retired from professional basketball.

Glen Davis is the latest former NBA player to have problems with the authorities. The 2008 NBA Champion was arrested at a Hampton Inn on February 7th.

After the hotel owner smelled marijuana coming from Davis’ room, Davis refused to open the door. This led to the owner calling the police, who then searched the hotel room. They found enough to lock Davis up for a while. Aberdeen Police Lieutenant William Reiber said:

“They recovered 126 grams of marijuana. In addition to that there was a brief case that contained 92,164 dollars of U.S. currency along with a ledger that contained language which is consistent with someone involved in the sale and distribution of narcotics.”

The search resulted Davis’ arrest followed by an indictment on seven counts of drug possession and distribution. Davis’ attorney said that Big Baby was looking forward to his court day in order to clear his good name, as he was innocent.

But that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Green has now been charged with felony assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury after his arrest in April, according to TMZ Sports. Big Baby apparently threw a man to the ground following an altercation in a parking lot, causing “fractures in his face and ribs as well as a broken tooth.” If convicted, he’ll face up to seven years in jail.

Big Baby played in the NBA from 2007 to 2015 and was with the Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Clippers. He’s mostly known for his time in Boston, where he won a championship and was a fan-favorite. His best statistical season though was with the Orlando Magic in 2013, when he averaged 15.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.
