The City Of Philadelphia Passed Resolution That Officially Names Joel Embiid MVP – “Most Valuable Philadelphian”

Joel Embiid had the season of a lifetime, finishing with averages of 30.6 points (1st in the league), 11.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game on 49.9% shooting from the field while leading the Philadelphia 76ers to the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 51-31.

He has made headlines all season long and has done enough to propel himself at the top of the MVP conversation. However, the 28-year old Sixers center didn’t simply climb up the ladder without some heavy competition, and it eventually was not enough to surpass Nikola Jokic in the MVP race.

After Jokic was named the 2022 NBA MVP, Embiid was frustrated, not knowing what else he’d have to do to win it, while also saying that Jokic was a deserving winner.

But now, Joel Embiid has become an MVP after all, as the Philadelphia City Council just passed a resolution that names Joel Embiid MVP – “Most Valuable Philadelphian”. This is not a joke!!!

Thanks to the city of Philadelphia for providing us with a great meme for years to come.
