Rudy Gobert And Donovan Mitchell Blast Jazz Fan Who Opposes ‘Black Lives Matter’ On-Court Paint

Amidst the social justice movement in the country, the NBA has recently announced that it will allow ‘Black Lives Matter’ painted on all three courts in Orlando to show support to the cause of the movement when the 2020 NBA season resumes. However, not everyone is in favor of this implementation.

Just like the Utah Jazz fan who rightfully was called out by Jazz players Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell after he tweeted that he will never watch the team ever again if the NBA happens to paint ‘Black Lives Matter’ on courts.

Mitchell and Gobert have made headlines after being diagnosed with COVID-19. While there has been a reported rift between the two players, Gobert and Mitchell appear ready to move forward as the season draws nearer.

On the other hand, many NBA players and fans are troubled that the season would only serve as a distraction to the issues that matter outside of basketball. This is why several players such as Kyrie Irving, Avery Bradley among others have spoken up to completely scrap the season.

But since the NBA can’t afford to shut down the season due to financial implications and other reasons, NBA commissioner Adam Silver and the higher coalition have instead used this opportunity to serve as a bigger platform to promote social justice.

Aside from the ‘Black Lives Matter’ on-court paint, the league has also allowed the players to put social justice statements and police brutality victims’ names on the backs of their jerseys.
