Giannis Antetokounmpo has sent a clear message that he won’t re-sign with the Milwaukee Bucks unless the entire team is committed to gunning for a championship. Amid this declaration, speculation has spiked on potential suitors for the Bucks superstar in free agency. High on that list are the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Knicks have been on a lengthy search for a franchise-altering superstar to elevate their team, so their name popping up in these rumors is hardly a shocker. However, it’s the Lakers’ rumored interest that has caught everyone’s attention.

Former NFL cornerback and current NBA analyst Richard Sherman chimed in with his perspective. Given that Antetokounmpo’s free agency is still two years away, Sherman suggests that the Lakers should simply consider dealing Anthony Davis for Antetokounmpo.

As transcribed by Lakers Daily:

“What do the Lakers have that they can move?” Sherman said. “Anthony Davis just signed a contract. Their numbers probably match up just right, and it’s the kind of thing Rob Pelinka would do. You can’t do it till December because he just signed an extension, but is that something that could happen? Giannis and LeBron James? There’s potential there.”
