Rajon Rondo Says Nobody He’s Ever Faced Compares To Pre-Injury Derrick Rose: “He Putting Your Ass In Trouble”

Derrick Rose is still a productive player today, but he just hasn’t been the same after all those major injuries he suffered back when he was playing in a Chicago Bulls jersey. Rose had such a short span of being a healthy player, but that was enough to prove that he was unlike any other.

Rose was such an extraordinary player that even former Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo, who appeared on ‘All The Smoke’ podcast, thinks nobody he has ever faced compares to the 2011 Most Valuable Player of the Year.

“No, man, nobody,” Rondo responded when Barnes asked if prime Rose compared to any player he had faced.”

Rondo had the chance to face Rose in a playoff series back in 2009, where the Boston Celtics and the Chicago Bulls met for an intense first-round matchup that ultimately went to seven games. Rondo and the Celtics came out on top, but Rose competed strongly and averaged 19.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game on 44.8% field goal percentage.

Rondo now rekindled his matchup against Rose and provided more insight on just how good Rose was before the injuries. He mentioned that not a single player could keep up with Rose who was just a rookie during that season.

“Ain’t nobody f*ckin’ with him like… seven-game series when he was out there? Man, he putting your ass in trouble. You on your heels the whole game, the whole game. And ain’t no one person in front of him, you got a whole scouting report on him for sure. That’s how we had it.”

“He was too explosive. He was for sure a one-man fast break, every night.”
