Paul Pierce Thinks The Miami Heat Won’t Make The Playoffs This Year

Fresh off an NBA Finals appearance, the Miami Heat were hoping they could pick up right where they left off and stretch their success into this year’s NBA season.

However, things aren’t looking good for them this year as several key players have been restricted from playing due to injury-related concerns and COVID-19 protocols, with Jimmy Butler being the most popular name of that queue.

The Heat are 6-12 to start the season and have been one of the bottom dwellers in the Eastern Conference. Notorious for head-turning takes, former Celtics star Paul Pierce now thinks the Heat aren’t making the playoffs this year.

As transcribed by Robert Marvi of HeatNation:

“As great as the Miami Heat were in the playoffs last year, they will not make the playoffs this year Rach (Rachel Nichols). And we saw a play earlier in the show where [Nikola] Jokic got the ball and threw it full court,” said Pierce while on ESPN’s “The Jump.”

“That’s not the Miami Heat team we saw last year – full of grit, full of grind like the Memphis Grizzlies. That team was built on hard work and toughness, and I have not seen that this year, and that’s why I don’t think they’ll make the playoffs.”
