New York Knicks’ Possible Trade Package For Donovan Mitchell

The Utah Jazz could be in jeopardy after reports of an apparent rift between their two stars, Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, were made public. The two players have fully recovered from the coronavirus but Mitchell is more than upset over Gobert’s careless and insensitive actions.

While there is no clear directive that Mitchell would be parting ways with the Utah Jazz, there’s been a lot of speculation on the potential of trading him in the future. The New York Knicks seem to be the team that stood out among the speculations. Ian Begley of SNY recently processed the possibility of the trade involving the two teams.

If Mitchell were to seek a trade from the Jazz, one speculating opposing executive said that any Knicks package would probably have to include either RJ Barrett or Mitchell Robinson, and two first-round picks (one of them unprotected).

A personal conflict between two stars may not be healthy for the team in the long run. We have to take note from the duos of Shaquille O’Neal & Kobe Bryant and LeBron James & Kyrie Irving—while the animosity towards each other ended down the road, both duos had broken up through a trade that was fueled by inflicting issues. If Mitchell’s relationship with Gobert remains unsalvageable then there would be a valid assumption for the duo to take that same road as well.

Before the hiatus, Mitchell was averaging 24.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game on 45.3% shooting. The Utah guard continues to improve—hitting all career highs in points, rebounds and FG%. He’s been having the best season of his career and was named a first-time All-Star earlier this year.
