LeBron James Surprisingly Reveals He Has More Of A Personal Relationship With Isiah Thomas Than With Magic Johnson

NBA legends, Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas, used to be best friends. Even though they were on different teams, rivals even, the two never made a secret of their friendship, which at that time was uncommon.

But unfortunately their friendship ended on a bitter note after Isiah Thomas’ Pistons played Magic Johnson’s Lakers in two consecutive NBA Finals. During the 1988 Finals, Thomas and Magic had an altercation that ended their friendship – until two and a half years ago, when the two  made peace on of one of the greatest NBA-related TV-specials in history.

Friends or not, the two undoubtedly were two of the greatest players in the 1980s. But who was better? Most would answer this question with ‘Magic Johnson’, at least from a sports perspective. But during an interview with Cari Champion and Jemele Hill on Vice TV, LeBron James now was asked about who’s the better human being between the two. James obviously took a very diplomatic approach (that indeed is a stupid question to answer), but surprised many when he revealed that he counts Isiah Thomas personally closer to him than Magic Johnson.

“Who I think is a better human being between Magic and Isiah? I think they’re two very good men, great men, actually. Magic is great, Isaiah is great.”

“I have more of a personal relationship with Isiah, which people might be like “Really?!” Even though I had the opportunity to be with Lakers in my first year last year, when Magic, you know before his departure.”
