Kendrick Perkins Reacts To LeBron James’ Comments About Boston Fans Being Racist: “I Was On The Celtics, I Didn’t Experience Racism”

LeBron James has been making headlines in this NBA offseason. And last week, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar made rounds on social media after taking a swipe at Boston Celtics fans in an episode of his HBO show “The Shop”.

Asked why he hates playing in Boston, LeBron didn’t mince words in his response, calling Celtics fans as racist. He also recalled a time where a drink was poured on him as he was walking off the court, and how fans were able to wear “F*ck LBJ” shirts in the arena.

Following LeBron’s remarks, former NBA defensive big man Kendrick Perkins, who played eight seasons for the Celtics, now shared his thoughts on the topic and told that he never experienced racism in Boston despite hearing stories about it.

“There’s racism everywhere. I spent eight and a half years there. And maybe because I was on the Celtics … I didn’t experience racism,” Perkins said.

“The fans in Boston do cross the line and hit below the belt when it comes down to being disrespectful,” Perkins said. “I can say throwing stuff at players like LeBron talk about the beer thrown at him. … You start to get out of bounds when you start talking about people and loved ones.”

“I hear from so many other players about Boston being racist and things to that nature. But there’s racism everywhere. But I will say: The fans are too damn disrespectful when it comes to opposing teams coming to Boston.”
