JR Smith’s Historic Game 1 Worn Jersey Was Auctioned Off

Game 1 of this year’s NBA Finals was tied with 4.7 seconds left in the 4th quarter, after George Hill missed a potential game-winning free-throw. JR Smith grabbed the offensive rebound, but instead of attempting a game-winning shot, or passing the ball, JR dribbled the ball out of the paint allowing the clock to run out, thinking that the Cavs had the lead. OVERTIME! The Cavaliers eventually lost.

That was the beginning of the end for Cleveland, as the Cavs couldn’t recover and got swept.

The NBA now auctioned off JR Smith’s game-worn jersey of that Game. A piece of history indeed.

One bidder was willing to pay $23,548 for the jersey. Just as a comparison. Most of Smith’s other game worn jerseys are sold for less than $1000.
