Joe Ingles Calls Out Fans And Players Who Don’t Appreciate Rudy Gobert

Rudy Gobert is one of the top players in the NBA right now, this is also why the Minnesota Timberwolves gave up a lot to add his talent to their roster.

He may not have a flashy skill set nor some eye-popping scoring numbers, but solely speaking in terms of playing defense while being a glass-eater, it’s safe to say that there are very few players that can match him.

Gobert averaged 15.6 points, 14.7 rebounds (career-high), and 2.1 blocks per game last season, while shooting 71.3% from the field (career-high). He’s making his presence felt, as he led the league in rebounds per game.

For an All-Star and three-time DPOY, the Frenchman surely does get a ton of unwanted criticism and disrespect from a number of observers including the likes of NBA players themselves.

Gobert’s former teammate Joe Ingles seems to question the disrespect as well and came to his defense:

“It is so bizarre to me why people… I don’t know if it’s that they don’t respect him or don’t like him or don’t think he’s good at basketball but I don’t know what you’re watching if you don’t think he’s talented. His first few years I was like he’s big, he’s long. Would he be what he is now, I wouldn’t say I didn’t think he would be but I thought it would probably take longer than what it did. It was almost like in a year or two he figured it all out. He’s a really good guy off the court, there are no issues there’s no drama with him. I don’t know how you can’t respect what he does on the court. I randomly see numbers tweeted about him or his defensive impact and it’s just like out of this world. There’s no one in the NBA that’s doing that.”
