Jayson Tatum Believes He Has Surpassed Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic And Joel Embiid As The Best Player In The NBA

After looking up to today’s best players and delivering back-to-back elite seasons, Jayson Tatum has grown confident enough to count himself among the NBA’s best.

Boasting averages of 27.1 points, 8.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game on 47.5% shooting and leading the Boston Celtics to the top spot in the Eastern Conference, Tatum now believes he’s the best player in the NBA.

“I got a lot of respect for a lot of guys in the league. Giannis [Antetokounmpo] for sure. [Nikola] Jokić, obviously he just won. [Joel] Embiid, guys that won MVPs, and the list goes on. The league is in a great place,” Tatum said. “I truly do believe every night I step on the floor I’m the best player.”

While Tatum clearly is of the best players in the league, getting ahead of champions like Antetokounmpo and Jokic remains a challenge. Embiid’s case might be more debatable since Tatum has done better in the playoffs. Nonetheless, Tatum’s confidence is impressive, and he has every right to express his opinion.

However, from a broader fan perspective, achieving even greater success, perhaps through an NBA championship or MVP award, may be necessary for Tatum to be seen as the best player in the NBA.
