Dion Waiters On Differences Between Playing With LeBron James And Kevin Durant

Dion Waiters is a lucky man. He is able to call both of the two best players in the league former teammates.

Waiters was drafted 4th overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2012 NBA Draft, and was with the team until he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Januray 5, 2015. LeBron James went back home to Cleveland in 2014, and was teammates with Waiters for one and a half seasons.

When Waiters was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, he was able to call Kevin Durant his teammate, also for one and a half years.

But what are the differences between the two superstars? Are there any? According to Waiters, there are. While LeBron is more of a teacher, Durant is a lead by example guy. That’s what Waiters explained when he was guest on ‘The Herd’.

“LeBron is so locked into the game, basketball is everything to him. He knew everybody’s plays and things like that. He’s a teacher’s teacher. He’s a coach on the floor, he’s a teacher on the floor, and that’s what helped me. KD is more of a ‘lead by example’ guy. LeBron was a vocal leader, Kev was more of a lead by example. I was closer to Kev, because Kev understood me. You know we came from the same area, the same places. I bought into it more with Kev, because he really took me under the wing when I first got there. Before I even stepped off the plane, after being traded to Oklahoma City, he was the first guy that texted me.”
