Danuel House’s Last Second, Irrelevant 3/4 Quarter Court Buzzer Beater Cost Betters Millions Of $

With only 1.3 seconds to go in last night’s fourth quarter between the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder, the Rockets found themselves trailing by six points. The game was over!

But out of nowhere, instead of letting the time run out after the inbound, Danuel House went for it and drained a three-quarter court buzzer-beating three to cut the Thunder lead to 3 for a final score of 114-117.

This irrelevant three pointer turned relevant for a lot of fans and bettors though, and ended up costing them millions of dollars. How? Well, the over/under total for the second half of Game 4 was 110.5, with both teams combining for 108 points in the third and fourth quarters, prior to House’s three.

The hail-mary three brought the total to 111, but most people had bet on the under, and therefore lost their money.
