Fresh faces aren’t uncommon at Team USA training camps, but incoming Duke freshman Cooper Flagg is turning heads with more than just his rookie status. Flagg’s fearless play in a recent scrimmage against Team USA has garnered rave reviews, showcasing a maturity and confidence that belie his age.

While many young players might be intimidated by the opportunity to compete alongside NBA veterans, Flagg approached the scrimmage with a refreshing lack of apprehension. He attacked the rim with aggression, displayed a smooth shooting stroke, and even held his own defensively against NBA superstars.

Flagg himself attributes his performance to his “no fear” approach. “I just wanted to come in and show what I can do,” he said in a post-scrimmage interview. “I know I’m young, but I’m confident in my abilities.”

USA Basketball barley survived against the Select Team, winning the scrimmage, 74-73, with Anthony Davis having a game-saving block on the final possession.

College basketball fans will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on Flagg’s performance at Duke this upcoming season. His fearless play on the national stage suggests he could be a major contributor for the Blue Devils and a force to be reckoned with in the NCAA and NBA for years to come.
