Charles Barkley Hopes Giannis Antetokounmpo Ends Up Like Michael Jordan, Dirk Nowitzki
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with the Milwaukee Bucks has been questioned after the first-seeded Bucks lost to the Miami Heat in disappointing fashion, winning only one game of the best-of-seven second-round playoff series.
Despite numerous trade ideas and rumblings that have been surrounding the reigning MVP, who is eligible for a supermax contract extension, he has has boldly claimed that he doesn’t intend to request a trade from the front office.
During ‘Inside the NBA’ on TNT, Hall of Famer Charles Barkley, who has a track record of criticizing superteams, now hopes Antetokounmpo takes the same road as Michael Jordan or Dirk Nowitzki, and wins a championship by staying on his own team.
“I hope Giannis does like a Michael Jordan or Dirk Nowitzki. Don’t just be a champ and try to join another organization, battle through it.” He continued, “I hope he becomes the champion, not just jump to another organization. I hope he signs the max deal this year and say ‘I’m gonna win in Milwaukee. I could join a super team and win, but I wanna still have my whole legacy, and identity.’”
