Channing Frye On The Curry-Lillard Debate: “I Like Damian Lillard Because He Has Done More With Less Than Steph”

The Stephen Curry and Damian Lillard debate hasn’t really been too much of topic, until this year when Lillard started playing his best basketball and was rallying his team to the NBA playoffs, while Curry was mostly out for the season because of his injury.

It also didn’t help that Curry and the Golden State Warriors were the first team in the NBA that was eliminated from playoff contention, while Lillard displayed an MVP-worthy performance inside the NBA bubble, eventually stealing a game from the first-seeded Lakers.

One could argue that fans are experiencing a recency bias, but Channing Frye, who formerly played against the two players, made his ruling on ‘The Load Management’ podcast, saying Lillard has done more with less than Curry, afterwards asking a hypothetical question which appeared to be in favor of the Blazers All-Star point guard.

“I like Damian Lillard because he’s done more with less than Steph.”

“Steph is a Hall of Famer, is a multiple champion, best shooter of all time. But could Steph have done what Dame is doing in Portland with that crew over the last couple of years? I love that question. I ask it with no opinion because it’s a ‘what if?’”

Frye didn’t specifically conclude that Lillard is the better player, but Frye has made it known that he likes Lillard more and would play with him instead.

“I respect the s–t out of Steph. I respect the s–t out of him,” Frye said. “I personally would want to play with Damian Lillard instead. That’s just me.”
